So who are you, and why are most of your jobs in Florida?
I'm native to Florida and got my art degree at USF, in Tampa. I began painting murals professionally in 2000 and moved to Minneapolis in August 2008. I was drawn to the Twin Cities for the endless creative opportunities it offers.
I'm a member of the
Northern Territory Artisans chapter of the
International Decorative Artisans League.
I also teach drawing at
Bloomington Art Center -- a great place with a beautiful gallery and theater, and a really friendly staff.
I want a particular subject matter and style, but I don't see anything like it in your portfolio. Does that mean you can't or won't do it?
It means that your ideas are unique -- my favorite kind. Do email or call me and ask. I'm very versatile, and I'm always happy to be asked for something truly new.
Do you do very small things? I just need an accent.
Sure, I can help you with that.
How do you price your work? By the hour, or the square foot, or what?
I visit the site and talk to you, then create a proposal that includes preliminary sketches, time frame, and a quote. The price depends on size and complexity, as some things are much easier to paint than others. You'll know exactly what the cost is before I ever pick up a brush, and it won't change unless you want to make significant changes to the project.
What do you charge to come and consult with me about a mural?
Consultations are a service I offer at no charge. Simply call or email me to set an appointment.
Would you be offended if I ask you to, um ... make it go with the sofa?
I actually enjoy working with your existing decor. Also, if you have a designer or decorator, I'll be happy to collaborate with them to ensure that the finished product will be a perfect fit for the room.
Wow. I thought artists were more, you know, temperamental.
I have much more fun making my clients really,
really happy.
