Black-capped Chickadee

This little charmer was a visitor to my balcony, where I put out dishes of seed. I captured a photo which became the basis for this painting, along with other shots I took of delicate pink magnolias in early spring. I kept this one very soft and simple, maintaining the focus on the subtle and lovely shapes of the bird and blooms, and borrowing some visual design ideas from Japanese prints I’ve seen.
